tangent computer research
has been developing and implementing software solutions for industry and
commerce since 1981. During that time tangent has established itself as
a firm who can be relied on to provide the experience, reliability and
the skill-set to meet the demands of a changing market.
tangent
is headed up by Joe Mc Cool [M.Ed., BSc. OND] who is a member of
the Irish Computer Society, the IEEE computer society, an associate
member of IEE and a member of the C Users Group. Working
with Tangent, Joe has acheieved notable success with his work in the field
of accounting, database and payroll packages, namely Omicron, Dataflex,
Btreive and others.
Joe McCool has many years experience in the installation
and maintenance of Unix systems (Tangent is an official SCO reseller)
and is skilled in:

- X Windows
- TCP/IP
- shell scripts
- awk programming
- installation
- Novell connectivity
- Emacs
- text processing
- GNU
In addition, Joe McCool is an expert programmer in
- 'C'
- BASIC (various flavours)
- Dataflex (Database System)
- Brieve (Database System)
Joe has been involved with computers and electronics since the late sixties
when he qualified from the Belfast College of Technology with an OND in
Mechanical Engineering. He went on to Queen's University, Belfast, and
in 1973 he won a BSc in Electronic Engineering. In 1978 he was awarded
an M.Ed. by Trinity College, Dublin.
After a position at Trace Computer Holdings in London [1979-81],
Joe became the MD of Tangent Computer Research [Armagh and Dublin] in
1981, where he has won an enviable reputation with his clients for his
efficiency and attention to detail.
